Environmentally Sound
Tulikivi has long recognized its role as a steward of the land that produces this magnificent soapstone. To that end, Tulikivi maintains a strong commitment to the environment from its manufacturing process all the way through to the end product.
Heat-retaining fireplaces that use wood as fuel have grown in popularity in the past few years due to the high price of oil and electricity. When burned properly, wood is both a traditional and environmentally friendly source of energy. Correctly designed fireplaces and dry firewood are especially important, as they guarantee clean combustion.
Tulikivi products are carefully tested.
Manufactured in Finland, Tulikivi's fireplaces have been tested at the company's own laboratories as well as by well-known independent testing institutes in Germany and the United States. The fireplaces comply with the world's strictest emissions standards. Tulikivi has an ISO 9001 quality certificate.
All Tulikivi fireplaces are manufactured using Finnish soapstone whose extraordinary heat-retaining properties make it the ideal material for fireplaces. The heat-retention and thermal conductivity properties as well as the weight of soapstone guarantees excellent efficiency, heating effect and heat-release time. Burning merely one load of wood will make the fireplace radiate heat for about 24 hours, depending on its mass.
Heating with wood is a reliable option.
Ecologists generally agree that wood is carbon neutral. While burning, wood releases a significant amount of carbon dioxide which is a greenhouse gas also released by fossil fuels. The gas is reabsorbed by growing trees and turned into carbon, which accounts for half the weight of wood. Whether a tree burns in your Tulikivi or decomposes in the forest, it will release the same amount of carbon into the environment in the form of CO2, methane and other gases. Hypothetically, this cycle can be repeated indefinitely. Fossil fuel can make no such claim.
